Why an affiliation program?
The One Home Planet community grows exclusively through word of mouth. This is why all new members automatically become affiliates, although it remains entirely up to them to take advantage of the service. That being said, if you believe others would be glad to know about this website, why not promote it and make money?
It is important to note that the primary purpose of being an affiliate is to bring people to this website, not to sell anything. Once on the website and receiving newsletters, people have all the information they need to decide whether to be part of the community and the Book Club. Since this may take a few weeks, the visits you initiated can become actual referrals for 60 days. In other words, do not expect quick money. The good news is that once the money kicks in, you will earn a recurring income, adding up with each new subscription. Besides, all you have to do is what you already do: use social media.
To receive your commissions, link a PayPal email address to your affiliate account by clicking on the Settings tab in your affiliate dashboard. The payment rate is 50% for new Community and Book Club subscriptions. Since the Book Club program costs $12 monthly, your 50% commission is $6. Payouts are made at the end of each month for commissions of at least $12.
4 methodologies and a bonus
It all starts with creating affiliate links that carry your unique affiliate ID and make it possible to track who you refer to the website. In your affiliate dashboard, click the Affiliate Link tab and enter the link you chose from the website in the Generate Affiliate Link field at the bottom of the screen. Your affiliate link will appear in another field below.
The website offers four use cases for your affiliate links. Let’s examine them respectively.
1/ Social Media
This is when you want to make public on a social media platform the interest of a particular page or post on the website. Click on one of the social media icons below your newly created affiliate link, and you will be done.
The simplicity of this strategy comes with a price: you do not know who you are talking to. This lack of personal touch will likely provide low results unless you have a large and loyal following.
2/ Direct Messaging
This is when you send your affiliate links to chosen individuals and explain why to them. It is also best to ask for their feedback so that they feel you value their opinion and thus themselves.
Word of mouth is the most natural thing in the world. If you want some positive returns, your sincerity is your best asset.
3/ Discussion
This one really deserves to be labeled a strategy.
- Look for conversations about politics, economics, or the environment by entering appropriate keywords into the social media or forum search field you are on.
- Genuinely and positively comment on what someone said. To trigger their reply, end by asking a question on a specific point that either requires more precision or furthers the debate.
- If and when they answer you, tell them you think this post (give your affiliate link to the post) is a useful complement to the conversation and invite them to leave a comment in its discussion thread.
This is the most sophisticated approach of the three presented so far, but if its method is strictly followed, results are almost guaranteed. All in all, there is no shortcut; the more of a listener you are, the better your affiliate results will be.
4/ Polls
These can serve as an advertisement you can use in several ways: on social media (see 1/), by sending your affiliate link directly to others (see 2/), or by clicking on the Creatives tab in your affiliate dashboard and choosing an image to display on your website.
The interest of this fourth use case is that you do not have much to do; the poll itself will raise the interest of those taking it.
Bonus: Your landing page
On some occasions, we cannot be served better than by ourselves. This is why you can request a personal landing page to convey your desired message, which can prove extremely useful in convincing others that you found the right place to be.
Some guidance will be given when crafting your message. Note that since this page is exclusively yours, there is no need for an affiliate link.
