At a time of democratic decline and overwhelming environmental challenges, our societies need true builders more than ever. One Home Planet can help, in its own modest way, by encouraging citizens to explore the basics of our collective issues and build steady relationships in their fight for the common good.
Where I stand
My professional background has always been in didactics, teaching philosophy to students and copywriting techniques in the corporate world. I enjoy examining things in depth and am passionate about sharing what I learn. As a French-American binational, I also know from experience that we are not citizens of a country just by speaking its language, but by recognizing ourselves as part of its political project.
Beyond the particular framing of national institutions, freedom and justice are matters of principle, not of cultural differences. These principles, however, do not become a reality on their own. As the late American civil rights activist and politician John Robert Lewis said, democracy is not a state; it is an act. Environmental, social, and economic justice will always require citizens to be alert and committed.
Community
As concerned citizens, we must never forget that we are part of a larger community, one that includes you, me, and all who share the conviction that there is more to our collective presence on the planet than the lie of war and the steady destruction of nature. We are the numbers and, together, we can move things in the right direction. The challenge is to come together.
As per its tagline—Critical Mind for a World Together—this website promotes a community based on the practice of critical thinking. The purpose is to offer everyone the opportunity to invest some time and effort in understanding the basic principles that structure today’s world issues. In this regard, everyone is invited to keep in mind that it is not the conclusion that matters, but the process by which we reach it. Rather than throwing one’s opinions in each other’s face, we help each other drive effective debates.
Through its Community membership, One Home Planet provides all the resources you need to engage genuinely with others. Our community is not an end in itself; it is a hub in your journey to building yours.
Your journey
You are here for a reason. Whatever you want to achieve, the more active you are on the website, the more others benefit, and the more opportunities and quality relationships will come your way. As a Community member, you have access to three main exclusive assets in that regard:
- Your guest posts allow you to reach the already motivated audience of other members and to gain valuable insights from those in the community with a similar background to yours. We are not all experts, but we are all builders of a better world; your voice matters as much as anyone else’s when sincerely expressed.
- When creating an interest group in your social activity dashboard, you can set its goal, clarify its topic, and ask other members to specify their motivations for joining. This way, your selected public ensures the quality and consistency of exchanges in a field you know or want to know more about.
- As a Community member, you can invite guest experts to answer questions about their work for a month. Everyone has their favorite thought leaders they would love to talk to in person; this is your opportunity! By taking it, you also make a significant gift to the community as a whole.
