The One Home Planet community is part of a much-needed mass movement toward a world that puts people and nature first. How do you know you will find the support and inspiration you need? To answer this question, it is important to understand what One Home Planet is and is not.
Community vs. social media
One Home Planet is not a social media platform. On social media, one remains alone among a crowd of people with whom one interacts more often than not on the spur of the moment. Social media platforms are like airports or train stations’ hallways; hundreds or thousands of people who “follow” you do not commit to doing so effectively. And even though there are spaces dedicated to specific topics, conversations there are rarely based on serious, independent content, consequently tending to stay at the superficial level of chatting.
One Home Planet is a community. This means, first, that members share a common goal
—namely, finding the dynamic through which they can give the best of themselves as concerned citizens. Far more than just socializing, community members grow. They can cultivate long-term relationships based on meaningful interactions.
Finding your dynamic
The more active you are on the website, the more others benefit, and the more opportunities and quality relationships will come your way. This is not about being everywhere all the time, but about doing what seems most relevant to you. As a Community member, you have access to three main exclusive assets in that regard:
- Your guest posts allow you to reach the already motivated audience of other members and to gain valuable insights from those in the community with a similar background to yours. We are not all experts, but we are all builders of a better world; your voice matters as much as anyone else’s when sincerely expressed.
- When creating an interest group in your social activity dashboard, you can set its goal, clarify its topic, and ask other members to specify their motivations for joining. This way, your selected public ensures the quality and consistency of exchanges in a field you know or want to know more about.
- As a Community member, you can invite guest experts to answer questions about their work for a month. Everyone has their favorite thought leaders they would love to talk to in person; this is your opportunity! By taking it, you also make a significant gift to the community as a whole.
